There is one thing you won't be lacking when you find yourself pregnant and that is information! The pamplets, booklets and advice will come pouring in, some from your midwife and others from friends and family. But sometimes this isn't enough, you want to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible and prepare yourself for being a good parent.
Below is a list of additional sources of information that you can also sign up to.They will send you money off coupons and general advice for the different stages of your babies life, I have found them very useful:
www.netmums.com Netmums is a great source of information especially on your local area - places to visit, groups to join and also buying and selling things.
Once you have adjusted to your new arrival your days can be pretty lonely and you can find yourself waiting a lot - waiting for the baby to wake up, waiting to feed the baby, waiting for your other half to return home so you have someone to talk to. I attended the anti-natal classes and although we really didn't do much bonding in these sessions I met up with the same people in some post-natal classes, this was invaluable. I found a great network of clubs and groups which meant that I was rushing around everyday to try and get to places on time, it was great. Everyone was sharing their experiences, tips and advice, they all knew of sessions or classes at local churches, swimming pools, childrens centres, my week was full.
If you aren't lucky enough to have a post-natal class try checking your doctors surgery because most will at least have information on local groups you can join, ask your health visitor too. Your local Library will most likely run free sessions aimed at young babies which is a great place to meet other parents and children.
I look back at these months and feel great that I spent quality time with my son, I learnt new songs, baby massage, shared recipes and generally had fun.
