So you're pregnant with your first child, you're excited but very nervous, you attend anti-natal classes and are focusing on the birth, but what about afterwards? How will the arrival of a baby change your life?
To help you get ready for your bundle of joy easylemonsqueezy.co.uk have produced some activities to try out:
- Make yourself a cup of tea or coffee then put it on the sideboard and leave it to get cold, then you can either drink it cold or warm it in the microwave. You won't have a hot drink for quite a few months.
- Eat your breakfast just before lunch, eat your lunch just before dinner and forget about dinner until your partner comes home starving then either get a takeaway or give him a potnoodle. Your baby will eat on time everytime, but you won't.
- Stay up for 24 hours then set your alarm clock for random times throughout the night and early hours of the morning. Being pregnant means you're visiting the toilet throughout the night now, but after the baby is born it gets worse.
- Try patting your head whilst rubbing your tummy and have a conversation with someone. The amount of conversations you will have whereby you will forget what you were saying mid sentance will make you seriously doubt your own sanity. Saying "I couldn't possibly go back to work, I have the concentration span of a goldfish" - it will get better, slowly!
- Get a yoghurt and dribble it over your clothes, then go out to the shops. Before your baby was born you would have got changed, but once you've had your baby you hardly even notice.
Now don't misunderstand me, I love being a Mum it's the best thing I have ever done. My son is now 10 months old and on most nights we get a good nights sleep and wake up to a smiling, gurgling baby. But the first 3 or 4 months are very hard to adjust to and then - they start to teeth!!
