Girls love to dress up when it comes to hen parties and more often than not, the skimpier and more outrageous the outfit the better. From sailors to air hostesses, school girls to cops & robbers, the ideas are endless. But finding that winning, unique idea to surprise your hen can be tricky.
We have listed a few ideas below to get you thinking:
Military - cargo green/camouflage shorts, tops and caps. Add streaks of brown face makeup to the face to look like mud, or you could go for a Lara Croft type outfit. Why not take a whistle along - 1 whistle the bride must do a press up, 2 a commando roll etc etc. If you plan ahead you could also come up with a march sequence and really make an impact on entry to a bar.

Geeks - time to dig out a selection of random, ill-fitting clothes such as ankle swinger trousers, waistcoats and braces and tight, brightly patterned shirts. Large glasses with a plaster are essential as are pimples, socks and sandals and a bow tie. Dancing throughout the night must be side stepping and the brides forfeits should link in with the theme.
Old People - get down to the local charity shop and dig out some big cardigans, floral skirts and slippers. Accessorise with grey wigs (or use talc in your own hair), spectacles and baggy tights. Dares can be related to the theme such as ‘ get someone to help you across the road’, ‘get someone to buy you a glass of sweet sherry’ etc.
Safari - dress the bride as a tiger and everyone else come dressed in safari gear making the bride stand out like a sore thumb. Camouflage gear is easy to come by.
Circus - everyone can pick a different outfit for this such as Strong Man, Elephant, Juggler, Bearded Woman, Ring Master. You will certainly catch everyone’s eye with this theme! and even attend a circus workshop in the daytime.
Morris Dancer - White shirts, black shorts and colourful hats and waistcoats. Socks and hats should be covered with multi-coloured ribbon / fabric and plenty of bells. If you plan ahead you could all learn a short dance routine to perform at every bar you enter? This will certainly get everyone laughing.
Rio Carnival - the more colourful the outfit the better. Think bright, floaty fabrics, bare midrifts, fruit around the neck, high heels and large feather head dresses. Rum cocktails should be the tipple for the night and wild dancing.
Good themes often stem from the bride herself. Does the bride or her fiance have a fun job? Has she any hobbies you could base the theme on such as life guarding or salsa dancing, a certain film she adores or actor you could dress up as? Has she always loved 80’s music or wanted to be a policewoman?
Whatever the theme, make sure you let the hen party guests know in advance so you have time to make or purchase an outfit. Its also worth considering whether you should let the bride sort her own outfit, or whether you should do that for her???
