The Business Benefits of Multi Driver Car Insurance |
|
If you run a busy firm with multiple employees requiring access to your company cars, have you looked into the benefits of multi driver insurance? Multi driver policies have proven popular over the years for businesses as they are a flexible and relatively hassle free choice in terms of their admin. Some insurers may require you to name the drivers or some may offer an ‘any driver’ policy which gives you the option to insure any driver over the age of 21, 25 or 30 subject to the drivers having a clean license (accident, claim and conviction free). The younger the age bracket on your policy e.g. ‘any driver over the age of 21’ the more expensive the policy will be as younger drivers are considered a higher risk by insurers. Therefore if you can increase the age limit to over 25 or even better over 30 you will certainly notice the difference in your wallet. If there is a need for an employee who falls under the age bracket of your ‘any driver’ policy to drive the vehicle or someone with a claim or conviction on their license, then this driver must be noted on your policy and approved by the insurer before they step foot in the car. If you choose not to or forget to make your insurer aware you run the risk of the vehicle not being insured in the case of an accident. An any driver policy removes the need to call up your insurer every time a new employee, required to drive a company vehicle, joins or leaves the firm. Some insurers also offer a joint multi driver and multi car policy allowing up to 4 cars and 4 driver to be insured on one policy. There may be a limit to the age of drivers e.g. all drivers must be over the age of 25, but this type of policy could work for a small business. Any driver policies are not just exclusive for businesses, they can also be taken out for personal use for example if you had a large family.
